The hummingbirds still fly.
The bees still buzz.
Hearts still beat. Except one.
Stilled. Silent. Fallen.
By his own hand.
In her desperation.
You didn't know him.
No one did. Why would you?
She was the one in the back...
The one everyone ignored.
He was the one everyone despised.
The gay kid. The geek. The loner.
She was the drama queen. The attention whore.
The one who just wanted to be loved.
The hummingbirds still fly.
The bees still buzz.
And all. the hearts. Still. Beat.

Looking With Your Hands
Everyone’s been there. As a child, your mom would take you to Wal-Mart, Target, or, if you lived near rich people as a kid, Toys-R-Us. Anywhere with toys. And being a child, you wanted to pick them up, play with them, put them in the buggy in hopes that your mom would buy them. Heck, at that age, you didn’t get the concept of money or buying things with money. You just wanted to play with it. And you wanted Mom to let you take it out of the store. If she said no, some of the braver ones among you would sneak it in the buggy anyway. Maybe mom didn’t notice. Maybe she did and bought it anyway.
But typically, what would happen

Spelling Counts
The line read:
"Fallow your heart",
I wondered what more there was to say.
Fallow your heart, leave it
empty and waiting for a season
so love can grow, nourished,
in a replenished, whole ground.
Fallow your heart so it does not become
Worn and barren with overuse.
The line read "fallow your heart",
but the poem, overworked,
meant only "follow".
Please remember that spelling counts.

Asperger's
like my own universe
jokes only I understand
handwriting that's illegible
to everyone but me
insomnia
damn drawbacks
I want to approach you
so badly
but I can't figure out
how
I'm also as mature
as the rest of you
I just don't want
to be alone
you all think I'm stupid
but I'm a genius
I just can't prove it

"EVERY YEAR there are approximately 10 youth suicides for every 100,000 youth.
EVERY DAY there are approximately 11 youth suicides.
EVERY 2 HOURS AND 11 MINUTES a person under the age of 25 completes suicide
How pervasive is the problem of youth suicide? Here's a brief review of what national data tell us:
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for teens.
Suicide is second leading cause of death in colleges.
For every suicide completion, there are between 50 and 200 attempts.
CDC Youth Risk Survey: 8.5% of students in grades 9-12 reported a suicide attempt in the past year.
25% of high-school students report suicide ideation.
The suicide attempt rate is increasing for youths ages 10-14.
Suicide had the same risk and protective factors as other problem behaviors, such as drugs, violence, and risky sexual activities.
While a single suicide is a tragedy, it is estimated that for every adolescent who completes suicide, there are between 50 and 200 suicide attempts.
A recent survey of high-school students found that almost 1 in 5 had seriously considered suicide; more than 1 in 6 had made plans to attempt suicide; and more than 1 in 12 had made a suicide attempt in the past year."
Teen Suicide is a huge problem. Let's give a moment of silence... Just one for all of our fallen friends, family, acquaintances... Even our enemies who have been lost to suicide. Please don't join their ranks...

Last year, an old friend of mine attempted suicide on Mother's Day. I don't know how she is now, the only reason I even knew was because my mom keeps in contact with her family on Facebook. I wish I could have been there for her, that having moved away all those years ago wouldn't have caused the loss of contact between us. And now, suffering through depression myself, even though I've not considered suicide, I worry that I will. I used to be among those who thought treating depression was as simple as making a change to remove the source of it, but now I realize how wrong I was. All I can do now is pray, pray for not only my own life, but for those others who suffer, some less, some worse than I, that we can all get through this.
